Who We Are

Shhh!
Wouldn't wake a sleeping baby

I'm sure you've heard -- no pun intended -- all the fuss over noise and the new RTD FastTracks lines. As a RangerXpress passes, you'll hear a whoosh -- but no horn will sound. Our trains will use two modern diesel engines -- the same type used in large pick-up trucks -- which run very silently, and with low emissions.

You see, at RangerXpress, we've long understood that transit makes life better. That's why our construction costs include the added expense of a minimal noise, no horn blowing, railway operation.

The railway regulation arm of the federal government has a "Quiet Corridors" program. Without sacrificing safety -- of passengers and railroad neighbors -- horns need not be sounded, except in case of emergency.

Commerce City is already the first city in Colorado to be designated a quiet zone. "Commerce City shushes its residents' biggest gripe: trains making too much noise."

Now, while we all love Westerns, sadly, this is the era from which most American railway safety equipment dates from. Horns would sound at crossings, towns, buffalo herds, and saloons with wandering drunks -- too keep everybody off the track.

By upgrading safety systems to the 21 century, we will let sleeping babes sleep soundly, while allowing RangerXpress riders to safely relax during their voyage.
